Chargers for Forklifts
With John Aker on Enersys Batteries and Chargers for forklifts and materials handling equipment. The high powered SB-350 connector will handle up to 350 amps, DC power.
New Battery Charger from Enersys
John discusses the newest forklift battery charger offering. This type of fast charger chargers has been on the market for 10 years.
High Frequency (HF) Chargers
The line of chargers has now been adapted to be HF (High Frequency). The benefits include being more compact, smaller and allows for placement in less space in the warehouse. They put out up to 30 KW of power which is ideal for opportunity charging.
No Batteries to Change
Because the eMax HF chargers charge batteries with a high output of power, the batteries can be opportunity charged inside the vehicle. That means, no change out equipment (battery changing carts) are necessary.
New Warehouse – Instant Return on Investment (ROI)
The ROI for Fast Charging forklifts is often less than a year. By saving time changing batteries, the warehouse operation can be more profitable. The lift trucks simply line up to the fast charger charger and plug in to the charger. The batteries receive a powerful charge saving money and time.
Dirty Battery Room?
By having one battery (per forklift) and plugging it into a HF fast charger opportunity charger, you get a charging system that works very well for multi-shift operations.
How long does it take to charge a forklift battery?
Traditional charge times are 8 to 12 hours. An HF Fast Charge battery charger will charge a battery all the way up in an hour. But by charging for only 15 minutes will add enough energy to the forklift battery to allow for driving around all day in a partial state of charge.
Charging Opportunities
You have the opportunity to charge the battery at breaks, lunches, meal times and shift changes. You plug in your battery to the charger, put the energy back in during those periods and then charge the battery overnight to bring the battery up to a full charge.
Who Uses Fast Charging Chargers?
Warehouses and busy operations that are looking to incorporate eMax HF opportunity fast chargers into their facilities will have
- Multi-shift operations
- 2-shifts
- Some 3-shift operations
